Dustin Aherin
Former PhD student, originally from Phillipsburg, Ks, completed his stochastic system model assessments (Feb. 2020). He is now an animal protein analyst at Rabo AgriFinance, a subsidiary of Rabobank, in the RaboResearch Food and AgriBusiness group. He assists in strategic decision making for both the bank and the bank’s client by offering a research-based perspective on fundamental market dynamics and future beef industry trends.
Gabryella Allen
Former MS student, biomedical science received her degree fall of 2020. Originally from Washington, KS. She is a Sr. Marketing Communication Specialist -Pork at Cargill.
Rachel Brown Champagne | Topeka, Kansas | rebrown@vet.k-state.edu
She works closely with Dr. Phillip Lancaster and is working on liver and GI tract diseases. She plans to finish in fall of 2025.
Jessica Jensen
Now works as Client Service Representative for Trans Ova Genetics. BCI relied on her to produce and edit the weekly podcasts: Cattle Chat and Bovine Science with BCI.
Blaine Johnson, DVM
Former PhD student, pathobiology, he received his DVM from Iowa State and plans to complete his PhD November of 2022.
Lilli Heinen

Lilli is working on a PhD concurrent with her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Her focus is on predictive models for managing feedlot outcomes she hopes to graduate in 2024 and receive her PhD the following year.
Dannell Kopp | Hiawatha, Kansas | dkopp@vet.k-state.edu 
She works closely with Dr. Robert Larson who is guiding her with BRD treatments and cost analytics /predictive economic model. She is hoping to finish in the fall of 2025 or spring of 2026.
Taylor McAtee
Former student, Animal Sciences and Industry, bioscience option. She completed her undergraduate in May 2020 and is now pursuing her Master’s Degree at West Texas A&M University. At completion of her Master’s Degree she plans to begin her Ph.D. in an area of feedlot research. She is originally from La Cynge, Kansas.
Kyndall Neal

In addition to completing the 4- year DVM curriculum, she was selected in her first year for the Veterinary Training Program in rural Kansas and will spend additional time during the summer months learning about public health, rural sociology, natural disaster preparedness and foreign animal disease. While striving toward these amazing goals, she is also completing her master’s in bio-medical sciences. She plans to graduate 2024 and move to western Kansas.

Conrad Schelkopf

He is pursuing dual degrees while studying for his doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM). His research focuses on food animal diagnostics and therapeutics emphasizing antimicrobial stewardship under the leadership of co-advisors: Drs. Mike Apley and Brian Lubbers. He plans on completing his DVM in 2024 and his PhD the following year.
